Description

Hello! At first - I really don't like making long decriptions in english because I'm making a lot of mistakes and faults. I'm hope so this text is clear and you can understand this ;) It's first map of 3 or 4 (but I have to do them :P).

I. Timeline (historical):
1767; Radom Confederation - the target of the confederates was ridiculing of Czartoryski and Poniatowski families in the sight of Russia, dethronement of Stanisław August Poniatowski (he was king of Commonwealth since 1764) and new king election from Wettin family (that was forced by “republican party”). Confederates thought that Russians will help him (this confederation was supported by Catherine II) but empress was pleased by intimidation of Stanisław August and forced him to cancel plans about reforms (she forced also borders treatry, religious equality and restoration of noblility freedom).

1767 - 1768; Repnin’s sejm - there was adopted Cardinal Laws which were guaranted by Empress Catherine II. Poland became formally protectorate of Russia.

1768 - 1772; Bar Confederation - unpleased and angry members of Radom Confederacy once again tryed to revolt aganist king. In 1770 they declared that king was dethroned and they tryed to capture him. Confederates fought aganis royal (polish) and russian army - unsuccesfully.

II. Start of OTL:
1772; Treatry of Petersburg - Prussia, Habsburgs Empire and Russia made partition of Poland. Austria got all south Poland to Zbrucz river with Lviv (ger. Lemberg), but without Cracow (pol. Kraków). Overall they took 83 000 km2 and 2,7 milion peoples. Prussia seized Warmia and Royal Prussia (Pomerelia) without Gdańsk (ger. Danzig) and Toruń (ger. Thorn; 36 000 km2, 0.6 milion peoples). There was also proclaimed independence of Free City of Danzig. Russia took polish Livonia and eastern territories behind Dniepr, Drucia and Dźwina river (Mstsislaw, Vitebsk and Polotsk voivodeships and part of Minsk and Inflanty voivodeships - overall 92 000 km2 and 1,3 milion peoples).

1772 - 1788; Time of some political and administration reforms

1791 - 1795; Great Sejm (Four-Year Sejm) - there was born idea of grand political reforms of country. The most of members believied that reforms are impossible because of Russia’s guardianship. In fourth years of Sejm there was a “Miracle of the House of Poland” - Empress Catherine II died and new Tsar was Pavel I. He was knowed as more liberal, and favrabled poland. He thought also that is son of Stanisław August.

1795; Constitution of May 3 - that document was projected to redrawn Polish - Lithuanian Commonwealth’s system. Union of Lublin (1569) was ended and declared creation of Polish Rzeczpospolita (pol. Rzeczpospoltia Polska; Rzeczpospolita means republic, “rzecz” (thing) and “pospolita” (common) is like latin “res publica”). Reforms was based on Great Britain system (“Rex regnat, sed non gubernat” - The King reigns, but does not govern). Of course this reforms wasn’t good looking to russian elites so poles had to go to the concessions. After death of Stanisław August Poniatowski was to be established personal union between Poland and Russia. There was signed alliance and Poland had to give Curonia and part of Ukraina with Podole to Russia. It was confirmation of the fact that Warsaw is still under Moscow protectorate.
